A truly unique retreat in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs national park, this fabulous 16th-century castle has been lovingly refurbished to create a great family homestay. Set in 80 acres of parkland and woods, with a beautiful river, ponds and friendly Highland cows.
This property is in the heart of Queen Elizabeth Forest Park in Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, with plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling and wild swimming. The Trossachs is home to many lochs, including Loch Lomond, Loch Katrine and Loch Ard. You can take a leisurely cruise on the lochs to enjoy the stunning scenery and wildlife, including eagles, ospreys and red squirrels. This area is rich in history, with many historical sites and landmarks to explore, such as Stirling Castle (22 miles), Doune Castle (17 miles), and Inchmahome Priory (7.5 miles). The nearby village of Aberfoyle (2.5 miles) is a picturesque and historic town, with a range of shops, pubs and restaurants. The location is secluded, rural and scenic but is within 30 miles of Stirling and Glasgow.
Enter this stunning property into the front porch which leads into the family games and lounge area; relax on the comfortable sofa, light the wood burner and enjoy a movie on the Smart TV or play a board game. Next is the kitchen which has all you will need to prepare delicious home-cooked meals. Enjoy your morning coffee at the dining table or in the sunroom in the summer. The dining room is perfect for hosting a family gathering with a stone barrel-vaulted ceiling, oak floors and a large fireplace. Completing the ground floor is the utility room and a WC. Head up the spiral staircase to the great hall which is beautifully finished with comfortable seating and a wood burner. Also on this floor are two spacious bedrooms, one double and one twin, both with en-suites and a separate WC. Continuing up either spiral staircase to the second floor, there are two light and bright double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms.
Heading outside, there is a dining area perfect to soak up the views. The grounds are shared with the west wing of the castle but have ample space to offer privacy, with seating areas dotted around the grounds to relax. Perhaps picnic and admire the countryside view and wildlife or wander by the shores of the river or follow forest trails.
