Self Catering Holiday Cottage
Brora
North Highlands
A spacious four-bedroom cottage in the popular seaside town of Brora, perfect for larger families and friends seeking a relaxing base close to the beach from which to explore the rugged coastline of Sutherland.
Situated in a prime location in the popular holiday destination of Sutherland, your traditional cottage has the quiet sandy beach a short walk in one direction, and heading the opposite way, you will soon reach the village where you will find shops, pubs and places to eat. Play a round on the links course at Brora Golf Club, just one of many superb courses in the area. Mountain bikers should head to the Highland Wildcat Trails at Golspie (6 miles) which includes the longest descent in the UK from 1300m above sea-level. Spot seals and otters at the Loch Fleet National Nature Reserve (12 miles) and follow the nature trail through the pinewoods.
Located in a charming terrace close to the beach, this lovely holiday home looks like a traditional fisherman’s cottage from the front, however inside it is two cottages converted to offer spacious and comfortable accommodation to families and groups of friends. Entering via the front porch, ideal for removing sandy shoes and muddy hiking boots, open the front door into your bright and airy coastal cottage. Step into the hallway where you will find a useful store cupboard and head through into the spacious kitchen with plenty of cupboard space for your provisions. Wooden flooring and neutral tones make this a bright and airy space to prepare your meals. Your well-supplied kitchen comes equipped with an electric cooker, fridge/freezer, additional fridge, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer making your stay a real home from home. Plan your day’s activities over a hearty breakfast at the kitchen table, which comfortably seats eight guests. For leisurely suppers, gather together around the elegant table in the formal dining room, a generous room with bright artwork on the walls. Two of the four bedrooms can be found on this level, both enjoying en-suite facilities. The comfortable double bedroom is decorated in soothing shades with pine furniture and an en-suite shower room with washbasin and WC. Also on this floor is the generous family bedroom with a double and single bed, both dressed in crisp linens and soft-furnishings reflecting the colours of the sea. Curl up in the cosy armchair to read a bedtime story. Benefitting from an en-suite shower room with washbasin and WC, this is a lovely room for guests with younger children. Take the stairs to the first floor where you will find a cosy reading area on the landing with a snug sofa to curl up on and enjoy a quiet moment. Your sea-facing lounge is a generous room with plump sofas and armchairs for you to sink into after a long day of outdoor activities and adventures and enjoy the panoramic views across the north coast. During the cooler months, light the open fire and enjoy its gentle warmth. From the hall step into the pretty twin bedroom with wood-framed beds, co-ordinating furniture and ample storage for your belongings. Your fourth bedroom is a charming room with three single beds nestled into the eaves, pine furniture and natural light streaming through the large window. A separate washroom with washbasin and WC and a contemporary family bathroom with bath and hand-held shower, washbasin and WC are also on this level.
Outside, spread your picnic blanket on the lawn for an al fresco lunch, or sip your morning coffee on the patio listening to the sea birds calling above. In the evening, fire up the BBQ to grill some locally caught fish and enjoy a sociable evening around the garden table. Store bikes, golf clubs and fishing tackle in the lockable garden shed.
